A VISION OF LEBANON FOR THE NEXT TWO DECADES

For the readers who may not have had the time to go through the entire blog site at http://www.a-planned-development.blogspot.com I suggest they read the following three short pages:

1) THE TITLES LIST OF THE EIGHTEEN SECTORS IN LEBANON'S ECONOMY

The eighteen sector plans depicted on this figure should cover the most important aspects of our country's economy. A Plan is drawn up for each sector that should include all the problems that are encountered in each one, Each problem in turn is carefully studied, with a view to find the answer to the following questions: WHAT IS the proposed solution/s, WHO will be in charge of implementing them, HOW this should be done, WHEN the job is supposed to start and end, HOW MUCH the solution will cost to be implemented, WHERE will the funding originate from, and most importantly WHO will be responsible for monitoring the execution. As one can see: SEVEN plans are complete, SIX plans are in the course of being elaborated, and FIVE plans have not yet been started upon.

2) A CHART ENTITLED: "LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS OF OUR OIL AND GAS POLICY

In this statement we envision what should be the MASTER WORD for each of the next eight years, from 2015 till 2022., By MASTER WORD I mean the single most important objective that should take precedence in the minds of the Administration and the citizens during each year, with regard to the planning and the preparation of the country's development and the development of our oil and gas resources, that is expected to start in 2023.

For example, the remaining three months of 2014 and the first three months of 2015 will be devoted to elaborate and finalize the full contents of the L.N.D.P. During the remainder of 2015, a special attention will be given to the Energy sector, in 2016, that attention will be given to Water, in 2017, roads and public transport will attract our special interest. Finally in 2018, we shall pay special attention to the environmental sector.

\During the following four years we shall concentrate our attention on four aspects of the oil and gas sector: "Institutionalization policy", "Staff training policy", "Environmental policy", and, "Revenue planning policy". The reason for this interest lies in the fact that, by 2023, we should be expected to start extracting, using, and exporting oil and gas, provided all goes well for us.

3) THE FUTURE GROWTH OF THE DEBT, a graphic presentation

That graph summarizes and describes two different scenarios. In Scenario ONE the graph depicts the movements of the Public Debt, should no reform be undertaken during the next 18 years. In Scenario TWO, we envisage that specific reforms will be implemented ($74 billion dollars saved), the interest rate on the debt will be reduced by two per cent ($114 billion saved).

In conclusion, we believe that the above three presentations summarize and describe our entire philosophy with regards to Lebanon's sustainable development over the next 18 years.

We would greatly appreciate any remarks or observations from the readers.
